Obituary for Robert Walker Sr.

Robert Walker Sr known to many as aka “Preacher” was born on January 7, 1941 to the late AC Walker and Lulu McKellar Walker in Oglethorpe (Macon County) Georgia. He was educated in the Macon County public school system and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Felton Chapel Church and served faithfully. “Preacher”married his sweetheart,Catherine Bell in 1960 and the newlyweds soon moved to Atlanta. They shared 54 years of love until her death in 2014. To this union, three children were born, Lori Ann Walker Brown, Robert Walker Jr, and Wanda Walker Craig. “Preacher” was a good solid man; a family man who prided himself on being a hard worker and provider for his family. His vision was to become an entrepreneur and his strong work ethic and leadership abilities afforded him this opportunity when he started Walker Building Services.

He made his living and carved inroads in the field of domestic engineering. His three children along with
some extended family members who he brought to Atlanta worked together in the family business for
many years insuring its growth and success. He became known throughout Atlanta and the metro area.
He had a long history of service contracts with the City of Atlanta, Georgia Tech, the AU center, the old Fulton County Stadium, 35 Atlanta Public Schools, and the entire Fulton Library, just to name a few. He also contracted with Selig Enterprises, one of the largest retail office spaces in the State of Georgia. He was loved, revered, and honored with many accolades and awards of outstanding excellence by each and every one of these entities. His motto, “We’re Not Satisfied Unless You’re Satisfied”was something he truly believed. He wouldn’t think of printing a business card or having the name of his company, “Walker Building Service” on any of his work vehicles without the “little do everything cleaning man” on it somewhere. “Preacher”shared his prosperity through a wide range of philanthropy measures such as: sponsoring churches and his hometown of Macon County benefited as he believed in giving back to the community. Robert Walker, Sr. “We, and those that you tirelessly served are satisfied” for you have left an amazing legacy.
