Memorial service for Taylor A. Butt, Jr. will be held FRIDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2022 @ 2pm at Greater Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Taylor Alexander Butt, Jr. was born to Taylor and Chrystobelle Butt on September 7, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and transitioned to be with his heavenly Father on December 24, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Affectionately nicknamed "Sonny Boy," he grew into a curious, adventurous inventor/entrepreneur. He attended Dobbins High School in Philadelphia, PA, and studied auto mechanics, specializing in German motors. His love of cars meant Sonny always had a hotrod in various stages of customizations.
He patented his design for chess pieces and under his "Chessworld" label, used exotic materials to craft pieces and unique boards for his customers. He taught himself to play the saxophone; his earliest hobbies included model planes, boats and ships, and also including collecting.
Sonny's love of God gave him a heart for people, for whom he always had a word and a verse. He purposely made time to pray and read his Bible daily.
He lived his life on his own terms which foremost included walking with God. He let everyone know he was a believer. Taylor is preceded in death by his mother and father; survived by three sons, Jeremiah Taylor, Taylor A. Butt, III, and Trent A. Willis; grandchildren; Janis Heath, sister; John T. Butt, brother, and Avida.
Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it always was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well. -Author Unknown-
